Never, Never Give Up

We often hear people say, “Never give up.” These are encouraging words that give a person determination. A person who believes in them will keep trying to reach his goal no matter how many times he fails. In my opinion, determination to succeed is an important quality to have. Therefore, I believe that we should never give up.

One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieve anything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at something new, so we should not feel discouraged and should try again. Besides, if we always give up when we fail, we will not be able to develop new skills and grow as people. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from our mistakes only if we persist making an effort. If we do not try again, the lesson we have learned is wasted. Finally, we should never give up because as we work to reach our goals, we develop confidence, and this confidence can help us succeed in other areas of our lives. If we never challenge ourselves, we will begin to doubt our abilities.

In short, it is important that we do not give up when working towards our goals. Whether we succeed in the end or not, we will learn something, and what we learn will help us to become better, more confident people. Furthermore, if we give up, we have no chance of attaining our goals, but if we keep trying, there is always a chance that we will succeed one day.

Personal Teachers in France

Human beings compete with each other and that’s how we become stronger both physically and mentally. And it is especially true when it comes to students’ learning experience in schools.

Searching online I came across the Profadom, an organization providing tutoring programs in France such as cours de maths à Lyon, cours de maths à Lille, or cours de maths à Marseille. At Profadom, students can set up private lessons and they are tutored by practicing teachers. All personal teachers are carefully selected for so as to meet individual needs of students.

Profadom has been online for over 10 years and it always takes a serious attitude towards quality education. Profadom aims to help students in study and life by developing confidence as well as learning skills. If you are looking for tutor programs you may find Profadom at www.profadom.fr .

Forgive and Forget

When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your anger. But forgiveness is possible—and it can be surprisingly helpful to your physical and mental health. Indeed, research has shown that people who forgive report more energy, better appetite and better sleep patterns. “People who forgive show less anger and more hopefulness,” says Dr. Frederic Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good. “So it can help save on the wear and tear on your system and allow people to feel more energetic.”

So when someone has hurt you, calm yourself first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, someone you love. Don’t wait for an apology. “Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing, “says Dr. Luskin. “They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don’t see things the same way. So if you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting a very long time.” Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean accepting the action of the person who upset you. Mentally going over your hurt gives power to the person who brought you pain. Instead, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person’s perspective. You may realize that he or she was acting out of ignorance, fear—even love. To gain perspective, you may want to write a letter to yourself from that person’s point of view.

Keep a Proper Body Weight

To maintain a given body weight, your energy input must balance your energy output. However, sometimes the overall energy balance is upset, and your normal body weight will either fall or increase.

The term body image refers to the mental image we have of our own physical appearance and it can be influenced by variety of factors, including how much you weigh or how that weight is distributed. Research has revealed that about 40 percent of adult men and 55 percent of adult women are dissatisfied with their current body weight. Similar findings have also been reported at the school level, mainly with female students.

At the college level, a study found that 85 percent of both male and female first year students desired to change their body weight. The primary cause of this concern is the value the American society in general assigns to physical appearance. Thinness is currently an attribute that females desire highly. Males generally desire muscularity. The vast majority of individuals who want to change their body weight do it for the sake of appearance: most want to lose excess body fat. While a smaller percentage of individuals actually want to gain weight.

The Personal Qualities of a Teacher

What personal qualities are desirable in a teacher? Probable no two people would write exactly the same lists, but I think the following would be generally accepted.

First, a teacher should be pleasantly lively and attractive. This does not rule out people who are not good-looking or even ugly, because many unattractive people have great personal charm.

Secondly, it is not only desirable but essential for a teacher to have a real capacity for empathy—a capacity to understand the thoughts and feelings of other people.

I find it essential for a teacher to be a bit of an actor. This is part of the technique of teaching, which demands that every now and then a teacher should put on an act to make his lesson interesting and vivid.

A teacher must be capable of great patience. This is largely a matter of self-training. None of us are born patient. Teaching makes great demands on mental energy and one should be able to take in his stride countless small irritations any adult dealing with children has to endure.

Finally, I think a teacher should have the kind of mind which always wants to go on learning. Teaching is a job at which one will never be perfect; there is always something more to learn about it.
