Awareness of others values (one)

Awareness of others valuesThe Chinese-style “collectivism” in the last middle century had a gradual decomposition and reduction for the individual and respect for individuals, and initially established the personal rights protection system before the turning point of the century. After that, “we”-this high-frequency word used in the era of the planned economy had been replaced by a more general word “I”. I would like to say “I”, and that’s why I appreciated the other “I”. With no establishment of “I”, and no cooperation of countless “I”, “we” must be empty、fragile、hollow and even insubstantial.

However, it was “others” that bridged “I” and “we”. Because of “others” “I” became “I” and “we” became “we” because of “others” too. When “we” over-emphasized and magnified “I”, and abandoned “others”, “I” would be left alone in a state of beleaguerment with no backing up. Under more circumstances, the concept of “others” in our traditional habits was only a memorial tablet dedicated in name. We had an idiom of "beggar-thy-neighbor" as a proof; and the adage of “mind one’s own business” was also our evidence. Even when it was at the peak of the ideal education of collectivism, “others” not only failed to become our people’s awareness, but also meant an informer, betrayed, alien, dangerous, and estranging and so on. The culture of collectivism under this system finally led to the severe consequence that “others equal hell”. People became afraid of hearing from and staying with “others”. Perhaps it was because of the fear toward “others”, “we” collapsed after “Cultural Revolution”. “Others” had to withdraw from the public attention, sinking into a dispensable and an empty word, and a vague region of civic virtue while “I” was still roaring up.

Foreigner in Paris

two cars in parisThis is a  picture I photoed on the Rue de Pontoise No.9,  Le Petit Pontoise in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. While my friends and I were having dinner, I suddenly saw the two cars parked outside. It excited me so much that I ran out quickly and took the photo. Why? Because it needs skills to park two cars like that.

As I used to know, westerners pay great attention to personal space and a safe distance between two people is usually more than 75 centimeters. For instance, if there are more than two people in one single room, they will try to stand or sit as far from each other as possible. Another example is: it is easy to notice that while two strangers are waiting for buses, they tend to comfort themselves by sitting at the two ends of the bench(This is especially true  in movies). So, it is no wonder I felt excited when I saw the two car parked liked that.

Why do people have to keep from each other for a safe distance meanwhile  their personal possessions–like cars mentioned in this post, can be crowed in a mess?

Who Do You Write for

wordpressRalph has been reading some friends’ blogs for a long time. Unfortunately, many of those excellent blogs have already stopped update and only few still write to date. Why?

If you once get a good idea and make it an wonderful article, however you find most people read your post not in your blog but somewhere else. Will you still keep on writing? Can you endure your hard-work posted everywhere online without paying off? Or, can you bear your readers’ requirements for your posts made through comments?(It is a very strange phenomenon, especially in some place, do you know where?) There are too many reasons which lead to the death of that blogs.

Bloggers who insist on writing can not get rid of that doomed destiny, either. Someday you are sure to stop writing, every time you write, you are closer to the end of your blogging day.

Then, why do you still keep on writing? You may have already thought of the day when you give up. But a sound somewhere deep in your heart always refuses to take such an action. People have their own belief. Bloggers, too. To some people, it may sound silly or it is just a waste of time. But the truth is , the belief bloggers own is the only motivation that powers bloggers, the belief to persevere your own value, to write for yourself.

Personally, blogger shall not cater for readers, but stick to your own principles.

No matter you are famous or not, blog is a platform of individuality. It is  sad you change your writing for others. Because if you can not write for yourself, your blog has already died.
